Healing HorsesFor this project, we need to create an 8" x 8" guide for non-profit organizations centered around a topic we were passionate about. The guide featured interesting typography, designed Yelp reviews, original images, and custom icons. It had to include a map with 20 locations (places related to your topic), along with detailed listings (name, address, phone, etc.). We also highlighted our top three recommendations, incorporating designed quotes and images. The final result demonstrated strong visual organization, typographic skills, and user-focused design.
Initially, I was inspired by playful, childlike icons, but I decided to shift to something more universal for broader appeal. The final design incorporates simple, clean icons that are recognizable to a wider audience, making the guide more versatile and accessible.
We practiced refining our layouts and added final design elements to ensure everything flows cohesively. This session helped us fine-tune the typography, imagery, and overall composition for a polished final presentation.
We designed custom icons and a map for our nonprofit guide, incorporating a horse-themed aesthetic to reflect the healing power of equine therapy.
I laid out the 6 spreads for the booklet, focusing on making each panel flow seamlessly into the next. Overall, it was a fun experimenting and a delightful experience.
