Famous Couples
Exploring visual storytelling through editorial design, this project focused on creating a Penguin-style book cover inspired by a famous couple. The challenge was to translate their relationship and identity into a strong, concept-driven composition while adhering to the recognizable Penguin design system. I developed a clean layout that uses typography, color, and symbolic imagery to convey narrative and tone. The final piece demonstrates my ability to work within established design constraints while still producing a distinctive and engaging visual outcome.

The sketching process focused on translating symbolic elements from Isaac and Rebecca’s story into simple, visual forms, such as the tent, well, ram, and field. Through multiple iterations, I explored how these elements could be simplified and combined to communicate meaning while maintaining a strong, minimal composition. These early concepts helped guide the final designs by refining the balance between symbolism, layout, and clarity.

The bookmarks and button designs extend the visual system by using the same minimal shapes and symbolic imagery, such as the ram and water vessel, to maintain consistency across pieces. I focused on strong contrast and repetition through the striped patterns and limited color palette to create a cohesive and recognizable set. These elements function both as standalone designs and as supporting pieces that reinforce the overall concept and narrative of the project.
